KST A to Z

Self-Correction/TMJ

David D. Shores, DC

Encinitas, California

I have a long-time wellness patient who comes in weekly. She has a TMJ subluxation that comes out when she is accidentally hit by her young daughter. The TMJ problem causes her a huge amount of jaw pain, neck pain and headaches. Recently she has needed adjustments several times a week.

Last Wednesday she came in and her jaw is out. Instead of adjusting all we have her say an affirmation: "When my jaw goes out of place my body can easily correct it." While she is saying this over and over, I check and adjust.

After that I go back and check the jaw, it is tracking perfectly. Just got a message from her: she got whacked by her daughter on Saturday and she reported that it went back in place in less than two hours.
