KST A to Z
Apraxia and torticollis in a three-year-old
John Foley, DC
New Jersey
A three-year-old with "apraxia", a condition of motor and sensory inabilities, and a severe left torticollis and fear of going to sleep was brought into my office by her parents.
They were at the point of desperation, having been to pediatric neurologists at DuPont hospital in Delaware and Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. The medical treatments included wearing a weighted vest, brushing the skin, joint compression, tape on the neck to pull it straight - nothing helped.
The boy attends a special pre-school that provides motor and sensory therapy since sensory integration of touch is a major issue.
Three months KST on cranium, sutures, C1, C2, C5, T1, rib 1, sacrum, and hips has resulted in major astounding responses. There are significant coordination improvements, his fear is melting away and he is daring to try and experience anything that comes his way. He has no major upsets from sensory stimulation, has no fear of going to sleep at night now. His parents are smiling.
The left torticollis is gone. Last week he came and needed no adjustment. He was in a happy mood, giggling; he has some catching up to do in his development, but now he's free to go and do it. This is one of my most satisfying cases in chiropractic and only because of my experience with KST procedures.
