I was the fifth doctor to see this patient who was scheduled for spinal disc surgery. He was in considerable pain and was seeing me as a "last resort."

This was before priorities were used in KST, and finding the lumbar vertebrae and discs that needed tapping/correcting took a little while. Suddenly the patient says, "I need to step outside and make a phone call."

He walked into the parking area and made his call while I waited. "Everything is fine," he said, "I just called my surgeon and canceled the surgery."

Five weeks later, he went on a 25-mile hike with full packs with his son and his Boy Scout troop. He referred his wife, daughter, and granddaughter in for care.
