KST A to Z

Fibromyalgia

Bill Steinbach, DC

Harbor Springs, Michigan

I belong to a chiropractic 'Fibromyalgia Centers of America' group. Sometimes we dread the fibromyalgia patient. In our clinic I never adjust on the first visit; during a test adjustment visit I never expect results - it's my time to get acquainted with their body.

One research finding about fibromyalgia patients is that they have 'awake-like' brain activity when sleeping and decreased REM cycles. On no less than three occasions last week, patients returning for their final report said, "This is the first time I have slept through the night in over ten years," some said 15 or 20 years.

On a conference call I told other fibromyalgia clinics what happened and everyone went silent. Last night I did a workshop on fibromyalgia for 21 highly educated attendees; the planned one-hour talk lasted two hours because of the KST questions.

These stories are practitioner-reported experiences presented for educational and historical purposes. Individual experiences vary. They are not medical advice, do not establish that KST treats or cures any disease, and should not be used as a reason to delay appropriate or emergency care or independently discontinue prescribed medication.
