KST A to Z

Hiccups

Jacqueline Cole, DC

Corpus Christie, TX

A patient came in for care the other day. She had a case of the hiccups that was quite annoying to her. I asked her if she wanted me to ask her body if there was a way to turn off the hiccups, which she thought was a little odd, but why not?

I did the OD, expecting to be taken to the diaphragm, but was surprised to find right inferior temporal bone.

I did the adjustment, and instantly the hiccups quit. It was like a switch had turned them off. She stayed around another hour getting a massage, and in that time, she never had a single hiccup. We were both rather impressed!
