KST A to Z

Marathon Runners

Sharon Havis, DC

Southfield, Michigan

Marathon runners are a unique breed of people; they always want to improve their times, have more efficient runs and have less stress on their bodies.

When adjusting a runner, especially before a race, I have them visualize their run, feel the road beneath their feet, the sweat dripping off their bodies. I follow the OD; adjust what comes up for them. I have them change positions, some run right foot front, and others left.

After they switch positions, I have them visualize the time they want to finish in and follow the OD. I find that adjusting a runner in their stride position gives me the opportunity to help fine tune them, improve their performance and efficiency, and accomplish their goals. It's way cool when they improve their times!
