KST A to Z
Posture change - hip avascular necrosis
Michael Winters, DC
Paducah, Kentucky
A 57-year-old male consults us for his hip pain. In 2006, he broke his right ankle and wore a cast for some time, after which he developed hip pain. He was told he had avascular necrosis of the right hip, confirmed on X-ray showing the femur head with flattening and a significant divot with osteoarthritis.
He stood with a huge sway to the left and could not put more than maybe 10% of his weight on the right leg nor do any significant weight-bearing activity.
The first KST adjustment was L4 disc left and percussion of the lateral right hip. His hip pain worsened after that.
The second visit was lateral hip on the trochanter and then sacral chakra off the body 1 inch lateral to the hip. His posture normalized and his pain disappeared.
