KST A to Z
Retracing

Retracing may come in unexpected ways such as in dreams. However, most of the time you will witness retracing right before your eyes. Several times a day I will witness the patient slightly swaying after initial adjusting. I always pause and ask them how they are feeling. Nearly 100% of the time I witness this, the patient is feeling light and floaty, or they may just say they don't really know what they are feeling, but that it is "different."
Other times retracing may manifest as a moving pain that can move quickly so prepare yourself and the patient for it.
I keep extra bottled water on hand as part of a response to the adjustment in case the patient becomes immediately thirsty. Sometimes they may need to sit with water while you adjust other patients to give their body a chance to assimilate everything that just happened.
Keep your mind open when checking with the OD and asking about priorities. You may find that when you follow the OD to an area that wouldn't ordinarily make any sense is when you'll see some of the most amazing retracing.
