A mother brought in her 17-year-old daughter who "suddenly" began having seizures a few months prior. The girl had seen many doctors with no help.

Using the OD, dental issues came up. I asked her to open her mouth to have a look. She had the largest, shiniest mercury (silver) filling I had ever seen. "How long has this been here?" I asked. About two months before the seizures began.

I told her, "This mercury filling is neurotoxic and is probably the reason why she is getting seizures. Please go to a biological/holistic dentist and have the mercury properly removed and replaced with a ceramic or composite filling."

I added, "I'm sure if we all work together, your daughter will soon be seizure-free" and gave the mother contact information for a local biological/holistic dentist.

I called the mother a week later to follow up. She decided she wasn't going to bring her daughter to see me again.

Six months later, I called again. The girl was still having seizures and the dental issues were not addressed.
