KST A to Z
Speech (slurred) – frenulum adjustment
Carlinda Budd, D.C.
Tucson, Arizona
A 55-year-old woman presented with sudden onset of slurred speech. She had no symptoms of possible stroke and no known risk factors. Her speech was garbled and difficult to understand, and she expressed frustration about not being able to get words out correctly.
I adjusted her frontal (subluxated when she thought about her fear of her symptoms); inferior occiput; posterior left temporal; inferior left mastoid; C7, and T1. I also got an OD when checking for a problem with the frenulum of the tongue and found that the base of the frenulum was superior. I corrected the frenulum. Her speech immediately improved 75%.
Five days later she had some mild residual slurring. After doing the same frenulum adjustment as well as correcting a right lateral occiput and left posterior mandible, her speech was 100% normal and has remained that way.
