KST A to Z
Trichotillomania

A brilliant 16-year-old boy entered my office with a seven-year history of trichotillomania (hair pulling disorder), an impulse control disorder. He had already visited numerous therapists, psychologists, and doctors over the years. Nothing had changed.
He felt frustrated that everyone always assumed the root cause of it was anxiety. He said he was not anxious; the pulling happened when he was bored. When he was tired, or simply “zoning out,” he would pull his hair. He had patches of hair missing and had to wear hats.
He was skeptical about KST, but the mom had already seen amazing results for her sciatica, and she insisted he come in for care. After the first month of care, he said that he was aware that he was pulling his hair out when it was happening. This was something that he had never experienced before...This continued to improve with each week of care.
Fast-forward two months and he has had some of the “best weeks of his life.” He reports that the pulling is almost completely gone and has only occurred when he pushed himself past the point of exhaustion. KST has helped him return to living the life he wanted, without fear of high school torment, low self-confidence and the thought that he would be stuck with this for the rest of his life.
One of the best things was watching this 16-year-old become so empowered in his own ability to heal and manage his health. He is one kick-butt dude heading for amazing things, and KST has helped him conquer his battle of trichotillomania.
