KST was the result of the discoveries of many inspiring teachers.
Lowell (Gene) Ward, D.C. (1936-2001) developed Spinal Column Stressology. Among his discoveries were the occipital drop (OD) and the relationship between posture and physical/emotional subluxations/stress.
Pat McLean, D.C. and Mike McLean, D.C., who were students of Richard Van Rumpt, D.C., developer of Directional Non-Force Technique (DNFT), a comprehensive analysis and adjusting technique. They taught me Dr. Van Rumpt's work.
Alan Creed, D.C. introduced me to the ArthroStim™ instrument. The ArthroStim catalyzed DNFT and Stressology procedures that formed the basics of what would be later called Koren Specific Technique. Without Alan, KST would never have been discovered.
Harris Colter, Ph.D. (1932-2009) was a world-renowned medical historian whose books on medical history, research, homeopathy, and vaccination remain classics. His magnum opus, Divided Legacy, a four-volume exploration of the 2,500 + year vitalistic/ mechanistic division in healthcare is a masterpiece.
Alf Breig, M.D., Ph.D., Swedish neurosurgeon, author of Adverse Mechanical Stress in the Central Nervous System. Dr. Breig's work on the structural aspect of the meninges and meningeal tension inspired Dr. Ward's clinical research.
John Upledger, D.O., O.M.M. (1932-2012), developer of CranioSacral Therapy ™ and SomatoEmotional Release. ™ He rediscovered the meningeal rhythm of the cranial and sacral systems. His discoveries and teachings have helped millions.
Scott Walker, D.C., developer of Neuro Emotional Technique (NET), is one of chiropractic's original thinkers and pioneers. His explorations into mind/body relationships have given humanity powerful and effective mind/body healing procedures.
Li Chuan Chen, Ph.D. Received his Ph.D. from the University of Kentucky Graduate Center for Toxicology and has 10 years of experience in cancer research, six of them working for the National Institutes of Health. Dr. Chen is also a gifted medical intuitive whose insights have helped reveal secrets of the body in health and disease.
And especially to my wife Beth and children Seth and Shayna, who trustingly let me work on them using these new procedures and have been an unending source of inspiration, never hesitating to give me all kinds of feedback on all kinds of subjects whether I want it or not. Beth is my most profound teacher. Without her love and support KST (and so much else) would never have been created. (And a special thanks to Shayna for assisting in the final editing of this book).
